Proposed Minutes of the November 2019 Meeting
by Richard Liptzin - Secretary

The PTG meeting was held November 12 at Frank and Camille. Twelve members were present.

Mike Slavin called the meeting to order at 7 PM.

Douglas Gregg gave the technical. Doug has had articles and tips appearing in the journal. His presentation was on creative methods for piano repair. Gregg began with a video presentation on soundboard repair. He showed us a few methods to get the ribs flush to the soundboard. Next, different liquids and polishes were shown: gold paint for the pedals and rustoleum is very good. White Diamond is one of the best metal polishes. The Sharpie company makes a good pen for touchup in black. Light colors are harder to repair. MEGUIARS polish for high gloss finish is excellent.

Gregg next talked about water damage and special woodworking methods for repair. He finished his presentation with the many uses of Balistol spray. The main use is spraying worn and hard hammers to achieve a better tone. If you don't want to take the action out of the piano, you can spray down through the strings to voice the hammers. I've tried it and it works.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.
