Proposed Minutes of the October 14, 2020 Meeting
by Richard Liptzin - Secretary

The meeting was held on the Zoom platform. 11 members were present. Mike Slavin called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Alex Kostakis presented the technical. The technical was an open forum. Alex began with a Broadwood piano that he reconditioned. 8 bass strings were dead sounding. He explained how he fixed the soundboard structure and the strings resonated. Paul Keogler next discussed replacing capstans on a Steinway. He commented that WNG parts work better than Renner parts but each has advantages. Alex said some Renner parts will not work equally well on both Hamburg and NY Steinways. Next was a discussion on how to sell a repair job to customers. Arlan Harris commented on the sustenuto bar and how to adjust it. A live demonstration was talked about for future meetings. Balistol was again mentioned as a lubricant with many uses.

Our first meeting on Zoom had about 5 members. This meeting had 11. It keeps building which is good.

The meeting ended at 8:30 p.m.
