Minutes of the October Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

Our October 10, 2006 meeting of Nassau PTG began at 7 p.m. at the Frank & Camille Westbury store. Eight members and one guest attended.

The minutes were read and accepted and the Treasurer's report was read and accepted.

New Business: Our party is at the George Washington Manor in Roslyn. The cost is $38 as before. The difference this year is that we have a choice of meat, fish or chicken as they are now a catering house as opposed to a restaurant. The party is December 5th at 7 p.m. We are inviting Ruth Juhn as our guest. The business meeting ended at 8 p.m.

Our technical was by Mike Slavin. Mike explained and demonstrated some tools that he has created for many situations. Among his tools are two mutes glued together to make a wider mute. He also has made a lid prop out of two angle irons, a supermagnet attached to a screwdriver for holding screws when removing them or putting them into an action. Another trick he uses is a paint stick that is marked at 1/8 inch for let-off distance. He also uses a clip-on flashlight for working in small areas in the action and a curved forceps for inserting punchings. In addition to this, Mike carries extra batteries and a bulb for his flashlight and cough drops and a set of keys for piano locks. These are but a few of Mike's tools. We thank him, for his interesting and valuable presentation.

The meeting ended at 9:30.
