Minutes of the October Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

Our October meeting was held at the Piano Shop, 21-05 31 Ave., Long Island City. We had five members and one guest. The minutes were read and approved and the treasurer's report was given by Paul Keogler and approved. Our business meeting started at 7 PM. We discussed the fact that we had submitted a request for a name change to the home office. We will have further information about this at a future meeting. Mike Slavin reported that he will announce the location of our holiday party at our next meeting. The business meeting ended at 7:45 PM.

Our technical was by Marco De Lellis, the owner of the Piano Shop. Marco showed us the various tools that he uses in restoring pianos. He has special jigs for installing ribs on soundboards and installing the soundboard in the piano. He gets his soundboards from Italy. He also explained some of the methods that he uses to restore the plate and explained some of the reasons that he has avoided certain methods. Marco does every aspect of rebuilding and repair himself, using methods he learned in Italy. He also showed us some antique pianos which use tuning pins no longer made, which he himself makes. He also has said that he will do any repair work for technicians, including keytops and even making keys. This was a very interesting and informative technical and we thank Marco for his presentation.
