Proposed Minutes of the September 10, 2019 Meeting
by Richard Liptzin - Secretary

The meeting was hosted by Paul Keogler at his shop Dancing Ivories. Paul does rebuilding, repairs, refinishing and PianoDisc installations. He is widely known on Long Island as the man to go to for PianoDisc repairs and installations.

The meeting focused on "favorite tools" and tips. Mike Slavin brought the meeting to order at 7 pm and proceeded to show us some favorite tools. He has fashioned some special tools with magnets built in. Great for a screw that falls deep in the piano. Mike's tip: save wine corks for lots of repairs. Surgical pliers and supplies are great for use in piano work.

Next up was John Luca. He showed us an ingenious tool for leveling and dip. Lee Dobrins next demonstrated how to clip the stickers on a drop actions with a small dowel when taking out the action. Very important when removing a drop action. Rich Liptzin showed us a quick video of a warped sticker in which he glued a thin piece of wood on the key so it would play. Paul Keogler gave tips on measuring with dowels. Apparently this method eliminates using a tape measure and transferring the measurement which can produce a mistake. By the way, Lee and Paul gave away tools and supplies they didn't need. If other members did come they would have got some good tools to take with them.

Meeting adjourned at 8:25.
