Proposed Minutes of the September 17, 2018 Meeting
by Richard Liptzin - Secretary

I hope everyone had a good summer and we are back to business.

Mike Slavin opened the meeting at 7:00. There were 9 members present; in fact, we had two guest members from the Suffolk chapter and the Manhattan chapter.

Our own members gave the technical: Alan Shumaker discussed bent grand pedals. A good hit with a sledge hammer straightens it back to shape. Paul Keogler discussed glue and adhesive types and uses. Shellac is a good adhesive to bond felt. Paul continued with regulation tricks and shop advice. Paul Eccardt lectured on damper regulation and tricks to solve problems. John Luca demonstrated replacing worn buckskin on backchecks. Lee Dobrins pulled out his bag of tricks and showed us very unusual tools and jigs. Mike Slavin demonstrated how to glue decals back to the soundboard. He mentioned a glue called Sobo glue.

This was a very interesting and informative meeting and much was learned from our own members.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00.
