Proposed Minutes of the September Meeting
by Allan Schumacker - Secretary

A regular meeting of the L. I. Nassau Chapter PTG was held on September 8, 2009, at Frank and Camille’s Keyboard Center located at 371 Old Country Road in Carle Place, NY. Five chapter members and two guests attended.

President Michael Slavin called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM.

The minutes of the May 12, 2009, meeting as published in the June, 2009, on-line newsletter, were accepted by general consent.

The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

President Slavin announced the following:
  • The 2010 NEECSO regional seminar will be held at the Sheraton Providence Airport Hotel in Warwick, R.I. The dates are April 29–May 2, 2010.
  • Delores Genovese sent a thank you note to the chapter.
  • Mike Slavin and Paul Keogler will serve as program chairmen.
  • The Christofori Chapter dinner meeting will be held on September 16, at Mama’s Italian Restaurant in Oakdale.
Old business:
  • Attempts were made by Mike Slavin to contact Dena Torcivia from Steinway & Sons and Ed Dryburgh regarding technical presentations. Phone messages left went unanswered. The program committee will try to contact Eddie Carasco to see if he’d be willing to give a presentation for the October meeting.
  • Having a presentation at a future meeting on the new Wessel, Nickel, & Gross action parts, will be considered. It will involve putting the guest speaker up in a hotel for the night and paying for transportation expenses.
  • Other possible guest speakers for future meetings mentioned were Joe Bisceglie and Franz Mohr.
New business:
  • It was mentioned that Jerome Heischober, brother of Norman Heischober, passed away late last spring. A sympathy card will be sent to the Heischobers.
  • Chapter dues paid by Lenny Genovese for this year will be refunded to Delores Genovese. The PTG Home Office will be consulted regarding the refund of national dues to Delores Genovese.
  • Chapter members are encouraged to e-mail suggestions for future technical presentations at chapter meetings to Slavinpiano@aol.com.
There was a discussion regarding poor attendance at meetings held by the L.I. Suffolk and L. I. Nassau Chapter, PTG. The idea of merging all the Long Island Chapters in to one chapter was mentioned. No action was taken.

There wasn’t any technical presentation at this meeting. The business meeting adjourned at 7:55PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Allan N. Schumacker, RPT
