Tech Tip
by Michael Slavin, RPT

We are all aware that to remove an Acrosonic action from the piano, we must clamp or otherwise secure a few lifter-finger pins in each section to the lifter-finger rail to prevent them all from dropping out, and creating the difficult proposition of re-installing all 88 pins back into the rail / bushings. Having followed this procedure recently on an older Acrosonic action presented me with a situation I had never before encountered --- the pins were not firmly tight in the fingers themselves and pulled out when clamped, consequently leaving me in the very position I was trying to avoid. I would therefore recommend dripping some thin red label CA glue around the clamped pins to ensure that they remain tight in their fingers.
