Minutes of the May Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

The May meeting of the Nassau PTG was held on May 11, 2004 at the church in Baldwin. Eight members and one guest attended. The meeting started at 7:15 PM. The previous minutes were read and accepted. A treasurer's report was given by Paul Keogler. Paul advised us that our rent is paid until the end of June and we have money for our delegate to the convention. The dinner committee reported that our June party will be held at Fratelli Iavarrone Restaurant in Lake Success. It is on June 8, at 7 PM. The cost is $38 per person and checks should be sent to Paul Keogler. We also decided that future meetings will be held at Steinway Piano's Westbury store in the Fortunoff Shopping Center. We will save rent costs and have the advantage of better pianos to use for technical presentations. The business meeting ended at 8 PM.

Our technical was by Kent Webb of Steinway. He discussed servicing the vertical piano. Kent gave us some practical tips on servicing verticals in the home. Some tips were: check plate bolts, check for rust on the strings, and tighten action screws. Don't change the tone of the piano unless requested, as your taste may not be the same as the client. Kent also mentioned that a touch-up kit to color nicks and scratches would be appreciated by the client. Checking dampers and touch weight is also helpful. We thank Kent for his interesting and informative presentation.
