Minutes of the May Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

The May meeting of Nassau PTG was held on May 13, 2003 at the Frank & Camille store on Old Country Road in Westbury. Nine chapter members and three guests attended.

The meeting was a special meeting to introduce the Seiler piano. Don Stevens, a spokesman for Seiler introduced us to this German made piano, which has been in business about 150 years. The Seiler comes in verticals and grands. It uses Renner actions and Abel hammers. An interesting feature of the verticals is the magnet on top of the jacks and the catcher. This is designed to give faster repetition. This also can make it possible to play fast and not have to let your fingers off the keys. The piano can work with or without jack springs. The piano is manufactured with the inner and outer rims made separately. The bridges are made with a computer designed machine that places the pins in the best position. The piano is also available with MIDI installed. No regular business was transacted at the meeting. We thank Don Stevens for his presentation and we thank Frank and Camille for their hospitality.

Our next meeting is our end-of season party.
