Proposed Minutes of the April 2017 Meeting
by Richard Liptzin - Secretary

Piano guild meeting on Tues. April 18 at Frank and Camille. Mike Slavin called the meeting to order at 7 pm. Seven members were in attendance.

Lee Dobrins presented the technical on voicing hammers. Lee is a very experienced technician and a guild member for many years. Lee went through various methods of voicing- Pins, needle hammers, liquid acetone mixture, steam voicing (be very careful with the heat unit), and sanding methods (Lee showed us some custom sanding devices - very interesting). Next was info on using needles in the strike point - be very careful with how much. He also showed us a trick to fix old knuckles - use yarn and thread into knuckle. Lee stressed that a good regulation is important to do before voicing. A demo of voicing from different companies was then presented. As I have stated in previous meeting notes, you have to be here to get the full value of the info at the meeting. Next month Lee will continue part two of voicing. If you haven't come to a meeting in a while, try to make it.

Meeting closed at 8 pm.

Secretary's note: I use the Verituner ETD. I think it's a great unit. Recently I had a problem with it. I figured I'd call the company and leave a message and hope to hear sometime soon. To my surprise, the owner and man who created the device, Dave Carpenter, answered the phone and personally helped me get the device up and running. This just shows that there are still some companies that will personally help you - not computers, messages and robo calls. I do recommend the Verituner company.
