The annual election of Chapter officers took place, with a continuation of the current slate.

The technical was presented by chapter president Michael Slavin, RPT, on a jig and system to totally duplicate the actual piano configuration when hanging new hammers to achieve a factory perfect installation. The many problems with traditional methods of hanging hammers were discussed, which can all be avoided with this new approach. The jig is able to replicate exact string height, hammer position at rest and at full blow distance, and achieve very precise strike point. The system allows for pre-traveling of the hammer shanks, and maintaining a perfectly square contact of the hammer and string, requiring far less voicing as a consequence. The position of the hammers when using the una corda shift can also be determined on the workbench. Michael showed how to ascertain correct strike point by modifying the old guide hammers when they are extremely worn, and avoid their normal over-centering. The members continued the discussion with comments about different glues for hammer installation and other related topics, with many suggestions about CA glue and its usage. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
