Proposed Minutes of the April Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

The April meeting of Nassau PTG was held on April 8, 2008 at the Faust Harrison Piano center in Dobbs Ferry NY. Five members attended. The meeting consisted of a tour of the factory showroom and a general discussion of the services of Faust Harrison. They have three stores and cater to upscale pianos. They believe that it is not necessary to only use Steinway parts in the rebuilding process. They still inform the client that they will use the parts that they believe are best for each piano, unless the client specifies original parts. They rebuild about 50 pianos a year and also sell various brands. The location of the factory showroom is in a part of Dobbs Ferry near the river and although not easily accessible, clients do come there. We saw pianos in every stage of rebuilding and got an idea of how they rebuild pianos. Their other stores are retail stores owned by the family. We had a lively discussion with them about rebuilding and other field problems that we have encountered. The meeting ended at 8:40 pm. We thank Faust Harrison for inviting us and for their discussing with us piano manufacturing and its problems.
