A meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on March 9, 2010, at Frank & Camille’s Keyboard Center located at 371 Old Country Road in Carle Place, NY. Five chapter members and two guests attended.

The meeting was called to order by Michael Slavin at 7:10 PM.

The minutes for the February 16 meeting were accepted as published in the online newsletter.

Paul Keogler reported on the chapter’s finances. He also mentioned that CitiBank is now charging a small fee for cash deposits. A short discussion ensued. No action was taken. The treasurer's report was accepted by general consent.

President Michael Slavin announced the following:

John Luca has formally applied for membership in our chapter. He is a former student of a well-respected member of the L. I. Suffolk Chapter, and has already attended two of our meetings as a guest. There weren’t any objections stated regarding Mr. Luca’s application for membership.

Frank & Camille’s will be relinqishing their Yamaha franchise effective March 31. Any Yamaha inventory not sold will be returned to the factory.

Frank & Camille’s and The Petrof Piano Company will be sponsoring a performance by Duo Petrof at the Consulate of the Czec Republic in New York City on March 16 and at Frank & Camille’s store in Carle Place on March 17.

Scott Jones will be the guest speaker for the April 13 meeting. The presentation will be about his Pitch-Lock touch-rail.

The Dinner Committee hasn’t decided yet where we will have our June dinner meeting.

The business meeting ended at 7:28 PM.

Paul Keogler was the speaker for the evening. The topic of the discussion was the use of technology in our business and the ways in which technology can affect the way we conduct business. Devices such as the iPod touch, the iPhone, cell phone, the PDA (personal digital assistant), laptop and desktop computers, and wireless Internet service make it possible to conduct business transactions while away from the office. Various people shared their thoughts about how technology influenced their business practices and office productivity.

The meeting adjourned at 7:57PM.

Respectfully submitted,
