Proposed Minutes of the March Meeting
by Marty Dinerstein - Secretary

The March meeting of Nassau PTG was held at A.C Pianocraft in Long Island City. Six members and two guests attended. We welcomed the presence of Bob Bisey, a longtime member of the chapter, and hope he will be able to attend more meetings with us. We were given a tour of the factory-showroom that was moved from Manhattan. In a location that is easily accessible by train or car, Alex Kostakis showed us the machines he uses for rebuilding Steinways and occasionally another fine instrument. The finest materials are used, and the client is advised if any products that are not Steinway original equipment are to be used. The preference is for Steinway parts to duplicate the original piano. Pianos are stripped, refinished, and have the soundboards and blocks replaced along with pin blocks, hammers and strings. All work is done in-house and the clients are called along the way to see all parts of production. The philosophy of A.C. Pianocraft is that each person does the job he is best at, and Alex Kostakis supervises the work. All safety and OSHA regulations are strictly followed and workers are trained to observe them. The meeting ended at 8:30 pm after a discussion of pianos with Mr.Kostakis. We thank him for his allowing us to see this fine factory.
