Proposed Minutes of the February Meeting

A regular meeting of the Long Island Nassau Chapter, PTG was held on February 12, 2013, at Frank and Camille's Keyboard Center, 229B Glen Cove Road, Carle Place, N.Y. Seven chapter members and one guest attended.

President Slavin called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Minutes for the January 8, 2013 meeting were accepted as published in the February newsletter.

The treasurer’s report was accepted as read.

Paul Keogler was the speaker for the evening’s technical presentation. The subject of the presentation was about tool sharpening. The presentation started with a short discussion about the ability of steel to hold an edge is determined by the composition of the alloy. He then proceeded to talk about proper use of grinding wheels and the need to dress a new grinding wheel to eliminate high spots. A medium-grit and a fine-grit grinding wheel was passed around.

The presentation continued with a discussion and demonstration of the different tools and techniques used in sharpening a tool. Specific tools discussed included:
