Tech Tip
by Michael Slavin, RPT

It is funny how we sometimes overlook the simplest or most efficient method of doing something because we are so comfortable with our usual procedures. I was recently reconditioning an action, and as part of the normal process of "preparing" the keyframe, I was aligning the front rail keypins. The oval shape of these pins often makes it difficult to determine if their sides are positioned exactly parallel to the key mortise. After all these years, it finally occurred to me to use a magnifying glass, which made the job much faster and far more accurate.
